Western Sydney Wanderers officials have confirmed the club will be adopting a second golden star on its crest this season, following Sunday afternoon’s victory against the Wellington Phoenix which marked the end of their historic thirteen game winless streak.
A statement from the club, sent via email to their members, described, “this victory is in an incredible moment for the club and our fans; one that we’ve been dreaming about for a long time.”
“This star represents the hardship we’ve all been through together, but more importantly, the determination and perseverance shown by everyone in ultimately lifting ourselves to glory.”
One Wanderers fan described to For Modern Football, “I’ve always believed, nay dreamed, that one day we’d win an A-League game. I just never thought the day would come so soon!”
He went on, “Any of you who’ve been getting down and out about the liars and the dirty, dirty cheats of the world, remember this day and how the Wanderers have proved that even if you suck, you can win!”
