The future of Australian football continues to hang in the balance Thursday night, as delegates from FIFA depart having failed to bring about a resolution to the ongoing power struggle between Football Federation Australia and a swath of invested parties.

Speaking to journalists after Thursday’s marathon meetings, one FIFA delegate remarked that Australian football “is lead by some of the most pig-headed, self-interested wannabe powermongers in world football, which says a lot given who we work for.”

“With so many groups determined to cling to their narrow grasp of power by any means necessary, it’s hard to see how football in Australia can get any more fucked.”
