Adelaide United manager Josep Gombau has received a five year ban from attending football matches in Australia, after the enigmatic manager ran on to the field following his team’s late winner against Wellington.

An FFA statement released shortly after the event described, ‘Gombau exhibited complete disrespect for safety with his dangerous pitch invasion.’

‘Who knows what sort of damage the man might have done had he bumped into anyone?’

Reports suggest that South Australia Police will be heavily increasing security at Cooper Stadium in future rounds, after this afternoon’s incident.

A spokesperson from South Australia Police described, ‘Once again soccer fans show that they can’t be trusted, and unfortunately we will have to escalate our security measures in the future.’

‘We are also in discussion with other state police forces to manage a unified response to this issue.’

The spokesperson refused to rule out rumours that coaches at Coopers Stadium will be forced to wear anklets, electrocuting them if they leave their technical area.
